SnapKnot

SnapKnot the photocentric website designed to help brides find wedding photographers, today announced the release of a new suite of features to enhance the user experience from initial search and booking to viewing post-event photos. The site's two latest features, Get Inspired [4] and the Bridal Dashboard [5], aim to improve brides' ability to draw wedding inspiration from the site as well as organize, manage and view their wedding photography.

Get Inspired is a new feature which allows users to search by keyword to find photos from any photographer on the site whose work matches the search, while the Bridal Dashboard allows brides to
organize and rank their favorite photographers, invite friends and family to weigh in on the decision-making process and even catch a private first look at the couple's engagement and wedding photos.

"We are excited to announce the new Bridal Dashboard and Get Inspired pages," said SnapKnot CEO & Co-founder Reid Warner. "Giving brides an easy, fun way to plan their wedding photography along stylistic and emotional themes, rather than browsing each individual photographer's portfolio, makes for a more enjoyable SnapKnot user experience."
Brides can join SnapKnot [6] and enjoy the full suite of functionality entirely for free. There are no booking commissions or fees involved.

Digital Detox in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

In a world full of every technical device imaginable—from cell phones, Blackberries and flip cams to iPods, iPhones and iPads—it seems almost impossible to escape our digital society. But taking the road less traveled, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is challenging travelers to a digitally-free vacation to its beautiful 32-isle nation. SVG is teaming up with travel company Black Tomato to create a “Digital Detox”-tailored trip, enabling consumers to trade in their virtual vacations for an unplugged one. Yes, that means actually experiencing a real vacation with human interaction, social skills, and quality time with family and friends.
The SVG and Black Tomato “Digital Detox” trip is designed to completely wean people off their technology – literally going cold-turkey on the beach. It includes a guidebook on how to digitally remove oneself (“de-tech”) before jetting off to SVG’s idyllic Young Island and Palm Island resorts. The seven-night getaway is US$3,799 per person including flights from NYC, three nights at Young Island and four nights at Palm Island, and a private crewed catamaran day transfer.
The launch of the “Digital Detox” campaign coincides with recent survey findings indicating that:
·       77 percent of consumers believe that time spent without gadgets and technology would actually liberate them, improve their relationships, make them a better person, and give them more time for their loved ones.
·       Approximately 17 percent of consumers said their New Year’s resolutions will be to go on an amazing vacation or to become less dependent on technology.

Preston Bailey for Bride Villa in Antigua!

August 21, 2012 (St. John's, Antigua)Caribbean Bride Magazine is pleased to announce that international, award-winning event and wedding designer Preston Bailey will be the special guest at Bride Villa, the ultimate Caribbean destination wedding planning event. Over the course of his 30-year career, Preston Bailey has elevated the concept of destination weddings.  His appearance at Bride Villa marks a continuation of his pioneering efforts, beginning in 2005, to offer wedding couples a way to realize their dream of a destination wedding, especially in the Caribbean.

Bride Villa is open to event planners and the general public and is scheduled for October 12-14, 2012.  The Bride Villa event will be held for the first time in Antigua.
Details and tickets are available at www.caribbeanbridevilla.com.

Erica Henry-Jackman, who represents the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Office in Canada explains that “Antigua and Barbuda has long been synonymous with romance.   Its perfect weather and totally tropical flavor makes it the perfect wedding and honeymoon destination.  We are delighted to welcome Bride Villa to our island.”

Caribbean Bride Magazine has partnered with the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority to produce a weekend of activities that includes a welcome reception on Friday, October 12, a seminar entitled “Love in Antigua” on Saturday, October 13 and Bride Villa, the consumer expo, on Sunday, 14 October.  Show director and Caribbean Bride Magazine publisher Dave Cox explains that the new format is meant to introduce an educational component to the annual showcase of vendors.

“Love in Antigua” features an impressive line-up of key industry professionals. The seminar includes training and educational presentations on Social Media Marketing by wedding marketing specialist Andrea Lowon from Smart Bride Boutique; Mike Zoumberos from Limelight Photography on Keys to Great Wedding Pictures; Wedding Trends and Marketing by wedding trends expert Meredith Bullock and Bride Villa’s headliner, Preston Bailey who will speak on the artistry of event design.

Preston Bailey’s international career brings his wedding and event designs to numerous locations around the world.  A specialty over the years has become working with wedding couples to create their destination wedding.  Beginning in 2005, Preston married the concept of a destination wedding with a specific destination partner to design a selection of exceptional wedding packages offered exclusively to Sandals and Beaches Resorts WeddingMoon(TM) guests.   The five-year partnership with Sandals raised the bar on luxury experiences for Caribbean destinations.

Preston continues to work with wedding couples around the world to design and plan their most memorable event. The interest in destination weddings has increased and evolved over the years and a new partnership was announced in December 2011 with Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong to offer the exclusive “Dream Wedding Package”. The wedding couple is flown first class to meet Preston in his studio in New York to discuss details of their one-of-a-kind wedding in the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong Ballroom.

The inclusion of Preston Bailey in this year’s Bride Villa event signals a significant commitment to bringing the most experienced experts in destination wedding planning to the Caribbean.  Derede Whitlock, who represents the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Office in the United States explains that “The events with the industry experts will help authenticate and strengthen Antigua and Barbuda's tourism product.”

On Sunday, October 14, guests are invited to attend Bride Villa’s cocktail wedding party, which showcases all wedding and honeymoon essentials from bridal gowns, jewelry, cakes and romantic getaways. They are then treated to a spectacular fashion show and live beauty demonstrations by Adrian Carew of Hair 2 Inc. in Toronto.

Colin James, CEO of Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority commented, “As a wedding and honeymoon destination, we feel truly honored that people from around the world choose Antigua and Barbuda as that special place to create such a timeless memory and we are very excited to host these events with Preston Bailey and Caribbean Bride Magazine.”

St. Vincent and the Grenadines upgrade their mobile app

Globetrotters seeking a truly off-the-beaten-path getaway filled with
quiet azure waters, unspoiled forests, and stunning white sand beaches
can take advantage of St.Vincent and the Grenadines' (SVG) newly upgraded
mobile app.

The free app, which was first launched in April 2011, now provides an even
clearer snapshot of the "ins and outs" of this multi-faceted
destination. With a more user-friendly interface, coupled with updated
iPhone [6] and iPad [7] versions (via the Apple iTunes Store) as well
as the Android [8] and a Web app version for all handheld touch
devices such as Blackberry available at discoversvg.com [9], eager
travelers can discover the true "Vincy" experience on the fly in ways
that are now much more accessible.

The upgraded SVG app features a wealth of information on the 32
islands and cays, namely greater content on each of the nine inhabited
islands (such as "Where to Stay" and "Where to Dine"). There is also
updated contact information on myriad land and sea operators within
the country's niche markets including sailing, diving, soft adventure,
and weddings/honeymoons. The app now includes an even wider range of
new photography, video, and maps that showcase the different SVG
experiences--from beautiful coral reefs seen in the Tobago Cays while
diving to major festivals and events like Vincy Mas.

Social media sharing on the app is another enhancement that now exists
on a more in-depth platform, linking SVG's Facebook [10] and Twitter
[11] profiles as well as Pinterest [12] page. As the "Critter
Capital," SVG's app now features an interactive underwater game that
allows users to match up some of the rarest underwater creatures to
their proper names via "drag and drop" options. The app also boasts
media highlights linked to top stories and headlines that rave about
this must-visit, idyllic destination.

"For all their charming remoteness, SVG's 32 islands and cays have
something for everyone whether it be the family traveler, the solace
and romance-seeker, or the adventurous explorer," said Glen Beache,
CEO of the St. Vincent and The Grenadines Tourism Authority. "The
upgraded app does a powerful job communicating that to travelers, as
we are always seeking new and engaging ways to draw in potential
visitors."

The enhancement of the mobile app comes at an ideal time when numerous
projects have been implemented to transform the tourism industry and
make SVG one of the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean.
Chief among them is the construction of the new Argyle International
Airport, which will replace the existing ET Joshua Airport. Scheduled
for completion in late 2013, the new airport will offer direct
international jet service from the U.S., Canada and Europe and will
handle more than five times the capacity of the current airport. All
of the Argyle International Airport updates and newly created
photography have been captured at great length under both the app's
"Airport" and "How To Get There" sections. Travelers can find an array
of information on the different airline carriers and gateway cities,
while also learning how travel to SVG will soon become much more
streamlined.

Other noteworthy SVG developments showcased throughout the app are
newly built hotels as well as major renovations of existing resorts.
SVG extends a welcoming hand of inborn hospitality to just about every
taste and wallet, from intimate-sized, family-owned hotels and
boutique properties to private island resorts.

The SVG mobile app was developed by Spring O'Brien, a New York-based
public relations and advertising agency. The app can also be accessed
via QR Code (a two-dimensional barcode) with the simple click of a
button.

Bluefields Bay giving back to Jamaica

Bluefields Bay, a top-ranked luxury all-inclusive Caribbean seaside villa resort on the South Coast of Jamaica, announces the current projects and initiatives of their nonprofit, Bluefields Environmental Protection Association (BEPA), including funding a local ambulance and sea turtle preservation.

Founded by Bluefields Bay's owners in 2009, BEPA is committed to its mission to protect the natural environment of the villages constituting the coastline of the Bluefields Bay, as well as to protect the aquatic life of the Bay itself. BEPA also seeks to contribute to the health, welfare and well-being of the region's residents.

BEPA recently just partnered with Ourisman Ford Lincoln of Alexandria to repair the ambulance of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, which has been broken since last July. Once the ambulance is operational, it will cover the entire parish of Westmoreland. BEPA also works with local conservationists to protect local endangered species and they have been working to monitor and protect a Hawksbill Sea Turtle nesting area from poaching and other dangers since May.

"Since opening Bluefields Bay in 1982, we have been committed to giving back to the local environment and community," said Bluefields Bay co-owner Debbie Moncure. "Our guests enjoy interacting with the local community and knowing they are supporting our charitable efforts that improve the well-being of Bluefields Bay as a whole."

Some other major BEPA achievements include:

* Education- BEPA is committed to giving back to the local schools in various ways. BEPA has provided the Belmont Academy, Black River School, Mearnsville All-Age School and Bluefields Basic School with such services as tuition-assistance, nutrition-assistance, installing modern bathrooms and installing 40 computers.

* Protect the Bay- BEPA campaigned to declare Bluefields Bay an aquatic wildlife sanctuary, which was accomplished in 2011. BEPA also paid for buoys to be put out in the water, helping to delineating the portion of the Bay that is protected, and has also paid for the patrol boat that ensures that the local fisherman abide by the law and fish in deeper waters.

* Keep the Community Clean- BEPA organizes and pays for the village of Bluefields to be kept clean. A team of three picks up any litter along the local coastline on a semi-monthly basis. In addition, BEPA paid for trash cans to be made and distributed along the community's main roads.

 * 90% of BEPA's donations come from guests of Bluefields Bay. With no permanent staff and all administration being taken care of on a voluntary basis, every cent donated to BEPA goes directly to charitable projects.

About Bluefields Environmental Protection Association (BEPA)
The Bluefields Environmental Protection Association was founded in late 2009 as the non-profit arm of Bluefields Bay. The mission of BEPA is to protect the natural environment of the villages constituting the coastline of the Bluefields Bay, as well as to protect the aquatic life of the Bay itself. BEPA also seeks to contribute to the health, welfare and well-being of the region's residents. For more information about BEPA, please visit http://www.bepajamaica.org/.

About Graycliff
Graycliff, the elegant mansion, was built by Captain John Howard Graysmith, a notorious 18th century pirate. In the centuries following, it passed through several hands, ending up as the property of Lord Dudley, the Third Earl of Staffordshire. During its Royal period, Graycliff hosted noble
personages such as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (Britain’s former King Edward VIII) and Sir Winston Churchill (who favored Graycliff’s Pool Cottage). Lady Grace Dudley added a strong English accent to the decor of Graycliff, with finely crafted furnishings and priceless collections of antiques, some of which still decorate the hotel’s guest rooms and public areas.

5 Honeymoon Planning Tips from Travel-Ticker

Are you planning a price-conscious honeymoon?
If you're like most brides or grooms-to be, you likely do not want to spend tons of money right after the wedding, especially when there are more important things to invest in (a home comes to mind). However, you still want to celebrate each other over a honeymoon. Don't fret. Seek out online travel discount sites such as Travel-Ticker.com to reconsider the extravagant honeymoon that's often shrugged off by most newlyweds. Make sure to visit different travel sites and subscribe to their newsletters and alerts to get the latest information on travel discounts to help you plan a marvelous, yet affordable honeymoon.

Are your honeymoon dates flexible?
If the date isn't set in stone, booking a trip on a whim can be an exciting way to start your honeymoon. Contrary to what many people believe, booking a trip last minute can actually save you money. Your best bet for getting a great last minute deal is to be flexible with your travel dates. This helps to open up opportunities to travel to locations during their off-seasons when prices are often significantly cheaper.

Do you have a specific destination in mind or are you open to suggestions?
Whether you have a specific destination in mind or not, letting the deal be the inspiration can not only lead you to somewhere amazing that you never thought of before, but it can also get you a great price on the destination of your dreams. Go ahead and make planning your trip fun and exciting by browsing different travel sites and magazines to see which destinations pop out or call to you.

What's the desired length of your honeymoon?
Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway or a two week vacation, all-inclusive packages are the way to go. Although you might think that a longer honeymoon will cost more than a few nights away, that is not always the case. Sometimes there are phenomenal travel packages and deals on extended trips that average about the same cost as a weekend getaway. The key to getting these savings is to do your research and look for the best deals, some of which may have mid-week departure and return dates. Be flexible and patient as you do your research to plan the perfect, affordable honeymoon.

What activities, if any, would you like to plan for your honeymoon?
Whether you envision you and your hubby relaxing on a beach, touring a big city, or doing both, finding a location that caters to your interests is just as important as the cost. Travel-Ticker.com's Interests tab can be a great resource for finding the right destination for you and your significant other. Choose your destination based on your dream activities, and you'll be guaranteed a fantastic honeymoon.
